2020 has been the year of memes with meme templates that fit every situation aptly. Most of these memes have been directly or indirectly related to COVID 19 as it has been a major part of people’s lives for more than eight months in this very year.
1. Tuhada kutta Tommy memes
This meme started trending after Yashraj Mukhate posted his RAP video on Instagram. The RAP video titled “Tuhada kutta Tommy sada kutta kutaa” a dialogue from Bigg Boss Season 13 Episode 86 by Shehnaaz Gill, a Punjabi singer and actor.

Gill did win the second runner up behind Asim and Sidharth Shukla but there were a lot of such dialogues from her. The meaning of the Punjabi phrase used by Gill “Tuada Kutta Tommy Sada Kutta Kutta” is a term used to make a person realise that it holds its own interests and needs a notch higher than the rest.
On 8th December 2020, creator Yashraj Mukhate re-created this as a RAP song. The next day, the official channels of Colors TV and Voot posted the Big Boss clip on their official YouTube channels. Soon, brands like Radio Mirchi, Flipkart,Dunzo, Swiggy, Amazon Prime, Rapido, and others started posting recreated memes of Gill’s outcry in Big Boss.
2. Binod
Binod meme is another random meme trend which took over the internet during the lockdown period. When “Slayy point”, a well known YouTube channel uploaded a video “Why Indian comment section is a garbage” in which they mentioned a person’s comment with Binod name, and that’s how this meme came to existence.

And after few days people noticed that someone had been commenting ‘Binod’ on multiple YouTube videos even though it did not make much sense. This meme barely had any meaning but was one of the most successful trends in 2020.
3. Rasode Mein Kon Tha?
“Rasode Mein Kon Tha?” meme template took over the internet in India in the month of August. This meme started when internet sensation Yashraj Mukhate created an addictive piece of music using a dialogue exchange from the serial, Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, I’m which character of Kokilaben, a typical mother in law scolds her daughter in law for putting empty cooker pressure on gas stove.

This piece of music broke the internet and quickly resulted in a series of memes related to the serial, its characters, and the famous dialogue, ‘Rasode Mein Kon Tha’.

Coronavirus pandemic gave birth to nationwide lockdowns around the globe and this was a great opportunity for the world to bring out their creative sides. People had been using these memes to rant about how the lockdown has changed their lifestyles to a great extent. These lockdown-related memes are being made and circulated even today.

5. Coffin dancers
Coffin Dancers, also known by the name Dancing Pallbearers, were the highlight of 2020 when the year kicked off. This meme is related to the Ghanaian pallbearers’ group that does a little dance while carrying the coffin for the funeral. These four men ruled the internet as people got creative with their images. Anything risky or dangerous was directly connected with these pallbearers and their unique dance.
