It is always exciting to know about the history and amazing happenings of past events, and things become more interesting when there is some existence from the past as proof to make people believe in history. Many places in India contain a lot of history and their proof, one such place is Agra. Agra is a city on the banks of the Yamuna river in the Agra district of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

New Agra was established by Sikandar Lodhi (Lodhi dynasty; Delhi Sultanate) in the 16th century. Babar (founder of the Mughal dynasty) also dwelled for some time in Agra and launched the idea of square Persian-styled gardens here. Emperor Akbar created the Agra fort and Fatehpur Sikri near Agra.

Fatehpur Sikri is a little city in the west of Agra, discovered by a 16th-century Mughal emperor. Red sandstone construction collection at its center. Buland Darwaza gate is the opening to the Jama Masjid mosque. Nearby is the marble Tomb of Salim Chishti. Diwan-E-Khas hall has an engraved central pillar. Jodha Bai’s Palace is a combination of Hindu and Mughal modes, following the 5-story Panch Mahal that dominates the location.

Agra Fort was the primary dwelling of the rulers of the Mughal Dynasty until 1638 when the capital was changed from Agra to Delhi. Before the British, the final Indian leaders to have resided was the Marathas.

Mehtab Bagh

Mehtab Bagh is a charbagh complex, it is located on the north of the Taj Mahal complex and the Agra Fort on the opposite to the Yamuna. The garden complex, square in shape, measures about 300 by 300 meters and is flawlessly aligned with the Taj Mahal on the opposite bank.

Agra Travel Guide: How To Reach Agra

As you have three options to go for either by airplane, train, bus, or own vehicle.

By air: The flight from Delhi to Agra is probably an hour long. Kheria airport is 13 kilometers off from Agra city. Take a taxi from the airport to get to the city.
By train: The earliest train from Delhi to Agra is the non-stop 12050 Gatimaan Express. It will take approximately 1 hour 67 minutes
By road: Agra is attached by state and routes for buses to various cities and towns like Delhi, Gwalior, Kanpur, Lucknow, and Jaipur. There is two main bus depot in Agra, namely Idgah Bus Stand and ISBT and accessible for all primary places.

If you are going by your vehicle follow the bus route or use the Google map. Staying is not a concern as Agra is a famous tourist place, there are many hotels available at affordable prices, like Hotel The Taj Vilas, Hotel Amar, and many more.
