It is also known to be the enormous mineral-rich lake in Canada which comprises of a huge quantity of minerals like magnesium sulfate, calcium, and sodium sulfates, and small left-behinds of silver and titanium. The lake is positioned in the northwest of Osoyoos, British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley, Canada.
The water starts to vaporize during the midsummer which forms several unusual patterned spots that can be visible in the lake. The lake contains more than 360 spots that vary in color from orange, green, yellow, purple, and blue.
The Okanagan community considered the lake as sacred because of the magical properties that can heal the diseases and wounds. Ernest Smith’s family possessed this place for many years, later the Canadian administration and First Nations assembled and paid for this place for $720,000 of 22 hectares of land. There are to be said that during World War 1, minerals were extracted from the lake to develop ammunition and explosives.
Spotted Lake is located in the South Okanagan Grasslands Protected Area.
