In this vast stretch of lockdown lasting for almost a year now, adapting to the work from home lifestyle is a huge struggle. Here is all you need to know to optimize your work from home experience.
Smart Work from Home not Overwork!
Work from home can be a great opportunity to relax, have fun and work as well. But the sudden transition from regular 9 to 5 office shifts to working from home, may have been a little difficult to adapt to. To work from home and simultaneously enjoy the family time, you need to do these few things.
Have all the necessary guidelines and rules of engagement.
If you are a work from home employee and struggling to handle the daily work you may want to seek help of your superiors. Get the required guidelines to work properly. This may be the first time you have to work from home for such a long time. Plus set relevant engagement rules too. This will save a lot of time, effort and help you work efficiently.

Keep yourself organized.
While you were still working in the office in the pre-pandemic period, I bet each one of you had a fixed daily routine. This routine helped you get through the day easily. Whereas now, when everything is done in the four walls of your house a daily schedule may seem like a foreign concept. But honestly, being organized having a daily schedule or a to-do list will help you get your work done. Being organized will increase your efficiency it will help you work fast and spend more quality time with your family.
Establish communication.
Communication is the key to success. While working from home try to be connected with your co-workers and superiors. Have multiple means of communication with your working team or manager. This will be extremely helpful in the times of emergency, if one system fails you may be thankful for having a backup one. Also communicate about things that are not work related, have casual talk with your colleagues over video chat apps. This will built team spirit and add just the right amount of personal touch.

Be open and listen.
Now you may be an in-charge leading an online team or managing a bunch of remote employees. Try to be approachable. You never know what a person is going through in his or her personal life. Listen to anything they have to say and help them out if possible. This may reduce their stress and you may be able to handle the employees better. Similarly for remote employees try to understand your team mate’s situation. Put on their shoes and know their point of view. This will increase bonding between workers and result into stress free working.

Relax and Recreate.
Practice your hobbies weather its gardening, reading or Netflix and chill, recreate as and when you can. Doing something other than work may help you boost your energy and enjoy the lockdown while being constructive.
Have a Separate Workspace.
This may not be possible for some work from home employees, but having a separate workspace may help you distinguish between work and home. A spare bedroom, an old wooden desk, dining table, etc. can prove to be excellent makeshift offices.
