World is already going through a tough phase due to Covid-19 Pandemic. News of introduction of Vaccine in the marketplace for normal public had added a little comfort and a bit of relaxation among people in last few days. Now everyone was thinking to have a same normal life where a person can roam freely without being worried about masks, sanitizers and Lockdown.
But the news which came from China took everyone by surprise and made to give a second thought to eating one particular food. According to few reports which came from China it is alleged that Covid virus has been found in a sample of ice cream, somewhere in Northern China. When this news of ice cream being positive with virus started making rounds on internet everyone couldn’t stop talking and showing their concerns.
Although taking the immediate actions local authorities have already destroyed all the packets of ice cream keeping the serious consequences in mind. Municipality officials of the Tianjin, China, has begun a search for finding the people, by whom same batch of ice cream from the Tianjin Daquiodo Food Company was used.
Later a few samples of the ice cream which has tested positive had been also sent to Municipal centre for the testing purposes, in which three were found positive with covid virus. By taking the precautions, Tianjin Daquiodo Food Company has transferred its 1662 employees to quarantine and other packets were seized and destroyed by authorities. Later in the investigation it was was found that the major ingredients like whey and milk powder were imported from Ukraine and New Zealand respectively in order to make the ice creams.
What Experts have to say about Coronavirus in Ice Cream
When an expert was asked about this whole case, he explained this process of how is it possible for covid virus to survive in an ice cream? He told, due to cold temperature at which ice cream was stored and due to its fats contains, virus survived on its surface. He later told, we shouldn’t be panicking about it, as every single bit of ice cream is ultimately going to be contaminated with coronavirus.
What kind of precautions were taken by authorities of Tianjin, China?
About 4,836 boxes of ice cream were found to be positive with covid virus in which 2,089 have been sealed and destroyed by authorities. In total 2,747 boxes which were transported to the market, about 935 were in Tianjin of China only out of which total boxes which were sold stand at 65.
Authorities of Tianjin are keeping a close eye on the local resident’s health. They are also asked to report authorities in case any kind of change is found in their health or any symptoms of virus they encounter. Authorities are also tracing other provinces along with Tianjin where ice cream by Tianjin Daquiodo Food Company were transported for the sales purposes.
Were food items tested positive with covid virus earlier too?
Well, this time it is ice cream but earlier in November 2020, it was claimed by China that “two Indian frozen butterfish packages” and two Argentina frozen beef along with one Russian frozen salmon packaging sample, were tested positive with COVID-19 virus too. Beef imported from Brazil had earlier traces of viruses as well. According to Wuhan Municipal Health Commission about three positive coronavirus samples were earlier taken into consideration when their virus were found in the outer packaging of frozen, boneless Brazilian beef.
From different countries of the world traces of virus are found in different packaged food items specially which are relatively a little colder. Irrespective of food items, viruses have been also was on other non-living things too like, auto part packaging! Yes, you heard it right, COVID-19 prevention and control office of China had found coronavirus on the auto part packaging few months back. Although according to World Health Organisation, the risks of transmission of Covid-19 virus from frozen food to humans is quite rare. Still China is way too much active in testing of the frozen food delivered by different countries of the world.
This virus may have transmitted from the person carrying the pathogen to the ice cream. Contacts of people were traced just to reduce the problems which are supposed to have grave consequences in the future. Some people are put into isolation by authorities in order to break the chain of virus from spreading ice cream to one human to other. Ultimately over-all situation is normal in Tianjin, China where ice cream was tested covid positive!
