Hot Suji Gulab Jamun Recipe
When we think about the sweet Indian dishes, then the first name which comes to our mind is Gulab jamun. Is it? Gulab jamun are soft, delicious, and sweet in taste & Berry-sized balls.
What is Gulab Jamun?
The word Gulab translates to Rose in Hindi & Jamun to Berry. Berry-like small-sized balls are dipped in sweet Sugar syrup-like rose water. Thus, the name is Gulab jamun.
Gulab jamun is mostly made of khoya i. e. Milk solids. But the Suji Gulab jamun is the alternative method of making these sweet recipes. Not only the children but the adults also enjoyed this Sweet Gulab jamun dish during festival season.
What is Suji?
Suji or Sooji (soo-jee), also known as Rawa in Hindi. It is basically granulated wheat which we call it semolina in English. Its made of powder or flour made from wheat.
Recipe to make hot Gulab jamun with sooji
Here are the steps that you should follow to make delicious Gulab jamun with sooji. Let’s get right into it.

- 4 cups Sugar
- 2 cups Water
- A pinch of saffron strands
- A pinch of cardamom powder
- ½ spoon of lemon juice
- 2 cups Milk
- 1 tbsp rose water (optional)
- ½ tbsp cardamom powder
- 1 cup Sooji
- 2 tbsp Ghee
- A handful chopped pista
Instructions
After collecting the ingredients, move towards the actual recipe of delicious sooji Gulab jamun. For making the sooji Gulab jamun we have to make the syrup and dough first. Let’s check out how you can do it at home.
Steps to make a syrup:
Follow these steps to make a simple syrup for Gulab jamun.
Step 1:
First of all, you have to heat a pan. Then add sugar & water according to the amount given above and then mix it well.
Step 2:
Now after that it’s time to add some saffron strands, cardamom powder, and a Little lemon juice to it. Remember the amount should according to requirement.
Step 3:
When you have completed the above steps then bring the syrup to boil. As it starts boiling then after some time you can turn off the flame.
Now we are ready to make the dough:
After making syrup, it’s time to make the dough. Here are some steps you should follow to make the dough.
Step 1:
As you prepared the syrup in the above steps, now you will require that syrup. Take that syrup and divide it into two equal parts into two glass bowls. In one of that syrup bowls, you have to add about ¾ cups of water.
Step 2:
Heat a pan and add milk to it. Add little rose water in it if available and add some cardamom powder according to the requirement to it. Let it boil for Some time.
Step 3:
After that, you have to keep adding Suji to the above pan, bit by bit with continuous stirring. Keep stirring till the pan becomes hot.
Step 4:
Now turn off the flame. As the pan is still hot now, keep stirring the mixture Carefully & continuously. Continue this till it becomes a thick mixture. Add a little amount of ghee and mix into it to smoothen the mixture.
Step 5:
Transfer this dough mixture to a bowl. Knead it with hands or spatula. Make sure the dough is soft and smooth and not cooled completely.
Making the dough balls:
Brush a little ghee or oil to the plate. Again, knead the dough with your hands and take a small portion of dough, and roll it between your palms to make a small-sized ball.
You may add a little chopped pista to it. So, it will enhance the beauty & taste of your Gulab jamun. Make sure there are no cracks in small-sized balls.
It’s a frying time:
The last step that is remaining is frying.
Step 1:
Heat a pan with cooking oil in it. Note that the flame should be medium or high.
Step 2:
Now add these Gulab jamun balls to it. Fry them till the color changes to brown.
Serve hot Suji Gulab jamun
Step 1:
Transfer the fried Gulab jamun directly into the sugar Syrup from the second bowl [which we made at starting]. Soak it for about a minimum of 30 minutes.
Step 2:
After 30 minutes, transfer this hot, tasty Gulab jamun Along with the syrup to another bowl. Now the tasty and delicious hot Suji Gulab jamun is ready to be served.
