Ramadan or Ramzan is the holy month of Muslims. Here is the Ramadan Timings for Sehri and Iftar. This is the 9th month as per Islamic Calendar and also called the month of Fasting.
This year Ramadan Starts from April 14th in India. The date may change by a day as per the sighting of moon and lunar rules in Islam. Night prayers also known as Taraweeh starts a night before the fasting day. So this year Taraweeh prayers will start from 13th April.
Fastings are done for 30 days. After 30 days of fasting, the next day is celebrated as Eid. This Eid is called Eid Ul Fitr. So this year it will be on 13th May 2021. In some scenarios of moon sighting it can be of 29 days.
What is Zakat?
In this month Zakat is also given to the poor and needy people. In Islam, all Muslims who have 7/12 Tola Gold or 52.5 Tola of Silver or equivalent amount of 52.5 tola silver has to give Zakat. So if we calculate 52.5 Tola of silver, it 612.36 gram silver. And as per todays cost it will around Rs 39,000.
So a person having this amount as saving for a year apart from his expenses has to pay Zakat. Zakat is2.5% of Gold, Silver or Cash a Muslim has. Cash is calculated in form of Fix deposit, shares, PF or Property which is on business.
Zakat Calculation Formula
(Savings amount) x 2.5 / 100
Eg: Rs100 x2.5/100 = Rs 2.5
Eg: Rs 39000 x 2.5/100 = Rs 975.00
