Eid Milad Un Nabi also known as Eid E Milad or Mawlid is a festival among Muslims across the worlds. It is celebrated on the birth (Wiladat) occasion of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
This ocassion is celebrated with great respect honoring the Prophet. Muslims wear new clothings and participate in prayers. Prayers are held in morsque and various private places. Muslims gather in Masjids for prayer and send salutations (Esal-e-Swaab) to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). They remeber the Birth (Wiladat) and virtues of the Prophet.
Charity (Sadaqah Khairat) is very popular on this day and given to the needy and poor people.
Eid Milad Un Nabi is celebrated on 12th of Rabi Ul Awwal 1442(third month) of Islamic Calendar. The 3rd month is called Rabi Ul Awwal.
This year Eid Milad will be celebrated on 30th of October in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and other parts of the subcontinent. In Middle East it will be celebrated in 29th of October.
In many Islamic country this day is decared as National Holiday.
