March 8th is celebrated as International Women’s Day
Great leaders said that men and women should be treated as equal for any opportunity. Every woman’s wish is to treat her equal in the society and let her name be recognized by her various contributions done to the society. In order to celebrate her mind blowing activities and contributions given to her family and society, International Women’s day is observed on every year on March 8th.
It is also to understand people about gender equality and women’s rights. This day is observed to celebrate every successful woman in various fields like politics, sports, literature, arts and science, technology, engineering, aeronautics, judiciary, space research and lot more.
History Of International Women’s Day
Initially it started from a labor movement and ended up in a United Nations Organization authorized international event. Nearly 15,000 women protested and walk through the New York City on 1908 demanding better salary, reduced working hours, and right to vote. Statistics states that even though men and women working for same amount of hours women are paid 50% less when compared to men.
In 1910, on an International Conference on Working Women, Clara Zetkin suggested an idea to make the day an annual event was agreed by 100 women from 17 countries. The first gathering for women’s day celebration was held in 1911.
In March 8th, 1917 at Soviet Russia, women had their right to vote legally on elections became the first celebration of women’s day in the world. Later in 1977 United Nations Organization recognized the day as International Women’s Day to spotlight the international talents in every home.
International Women’s Day Theme
The first theme by UNO was “Planning for the future, celebrating the past”. It states that celebrating the achievements in the past and providing future plans for upcoming achievements.
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Theme for 2021 is ‘Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world.’
“Choose to Challenge”, is the prime aim of Women’s day 2021. It signifies that women challenge the world everyday and strive to achieve their goals by their own thoughts and actions. As a part of celebration various fund raising women care and child education, celebrating their achievements in various fields and raising awareness about gender bias.
This year’s International Women’s Day is a rallying cry for Generation Equality. It is time to finally fully harness the power of women’s leadership to realise a more equal, more inclusive and more sustainable future.

Color, theme and Symbol
By Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) some colors had been originated for Women’s day celebration in 1908 in United Kingdom.
Green, white and purple are the colors of the International Women’s day celebration 2021. Green represents hope and belief. Purple depicts justice and dignity. White symbolizes purity.
The newsletters, posters, postcards of Women’s day celebration consist of symbol of Venus which represents a brave woman. It also has pictures of different aged women from different countries showing the unity among them apart from race.
International Women’s day celebration is not specific to any government or organization or corporation. It is exposed to common woman present around the world. Making people understand about the stereotypes about feminism and gender parity is the main motto of the celebration. Women Empowerment has been playing a major role in all promising fields.
Empowering women by increasing their socio economic development, improving literacy rate, encouraging to invest money in income generating activities. People support this day by running a campaign, participating in various events, celebrating the achievements, donating to women focused charity etc.
Some key points which enlighten the purpose of International Women’s Day celebration are as follows:

Women’s Day International events
The day is to enhance gender relation, gender equality and spread positive thoughts regarding women. This day is also termed as United Nations Day for Women’s Rights and International peace. Many educational institutions and organizations conduct events and debate on women rights, their influence in society, various activities and violations they face in their daily life.
Ukraine, Armenia, Belarus, Russia, Moldova and some other countries have their public holiday in this day. It is declared as half working day in China. In Italy it is celebrated by giving mimosa blossom to all women. You can also gift your women like mother, sister, wife, friends with some surprise plans.
Provide them an experimental movie with bon fire and barbeque in their garden area.
Undertake their household works like cooking, washing, taking care of elders.
Plan for an excursion or picnic. Spend some time by hearing music and have fun with their loved people.
