International Cat Day 2021 also known as the World Cat Day is celebrated on 8 August and filled with many fun activities that will also give you another reason to care for your cat (or your beloved pet in this case) at home.
The International Cat Day, proclaimed by the International Animal Welfare Fund, has been celebrated annually since 2002. Many countries also celebrate national cat days to raise awareness for the adoption of cats. International Cat Day is celebrated each year on August 8th. International Cat Day was first recognized by IFAW in 2002, an animal welfare organisation in Canada.
The day, launched in its 19th year by the International Fund for the Protection of Animals, was founded in 2002 to raise awareness of the kitty friends and the many ways in which we can protect them. In 2020, International Cat Care (ICatCare) became the official guardian of International Cat Day. Over the past year ICatCare worked to coordinate work to improve the lives of over 500 million cats around the world.
The festivities were first organized in 2002 by IFAW, the International Animal Welfare Fund and other animal rights organizations to celebrate one of humanity’s oldest and most beloved pets. Since then, many other organizations and individual nations have joined this new tradition to honor our feline friends. As pet tech experts, we believe that Cat Day is a day, and we are excited to find new ways to share it with our cats and other pets.
