Here are few famous and Biggest controversies of 2020 which caused chaos all around the country and world..!
With the passing of time and increasing in standard of living, there’s also an increase in controversies’ rate. In fact it wouldn’t be astonishing to say, “controversies are a part of human civilization”. As the year 2020 is about to end, let’s go on a ride, down the memory lane. This year was full of controversies that dragged the Bollywood fraternity in it too.
1. Deepika Padukone’s JNU visit!
This whole farrago stated when Deepika Padukone joined a controversial protest of Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi (JNU) organised by students. She never knew that her visit will create such a huge melodrama.
She was there just to promote her film “Chhapaak” which was about to release that time. But this stunt got backfired and many people were hurt by this stand of actress. They called it a mare cheap publicity stunt and urged to boycott her movie.
This outrage later resulted in low box office collection of her movie. After few months a rumour of “paying 5 crore rupees to Deepika just to Visit JNU” were doing the rounds on social media. But no one can guarantee authenticity of this statement. It just came and got washed away.
2. Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case!
Sushant Singh Rajput, one of the most loved celebrities of India, was born and brought up in Bihar. He was from a very humble background and struggled a lot to make his dreams come true. But everything shattered when he was found hanging in his room on 14th of June. People couldn’t believe that it could also happen.
Such a talented, and brilliant actor just committed suicide! Many of the people called told he was depressed hence he took that decision. But later it was alleged not a suicide case but a murder!
Few biggies of Bollywood were raised fingers on, later nepotism was blamed for it and few days down the line his girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty was taken as a prime suspect. Now as the case is with CBI, more details are waited.
3. YouTube V/S TIKTOK!
This whole controversy started when Amit Siddiqui, a former TikToker posted a video on IGTV panting about YouTubers roast TikTokers. He later said if TikTokers will also start their YouTube channel it wouldn’t be good for prominent YouTubers.
This statement didn’t go well with CarryMinati, AKA Ajey Nagar and he made a roasting video of the prior topic which got love and hate at the same time. Few people took it as an offence and after few days his video was deleted from YouTube for violating guidelines of YouTube community.
This hullabaloo kept going for few months, later Government of India banned TIKTOK as it was a Chinese company. With this whole disputes got settled.
4. Laxmmi bomb film controversy!
Laxmi bomb was a much awaited movie of 2020 which was starring Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani in lead role. It was a Hindi version on “Kanchana” a South Indian movie. The controversy related to this movie was it’s name which was allegedly hurting Hindu sentiments.
As goddess Laxmi is a widely worshipped Goddess of Hindus, it did not go well with people and they demanded to boycott the movie. Even few people took it personal and trolled Twinkle Khanna, (Wife of Akshay Kumar) as Twinkle bomb. Keeping all the outrage in consideration, later title of the movie was changed from “Laxmi bomb” to “Laxmmi”!
5. Kangana Ranaut V/S Diljeet Dosanjh
Cold war between Kangana Ranaut and Diljeet Dosanjh began when farmers were mistaken to eat at farmer’s protest. Actress misidentified an old lady in the protest as a lady from Shahin Bagh protest taking place in New Delhi. This did not go well with Diljeet Dosanjh
And he took to Twitter and put a series of tweets in Punjabi, taking a jibe at Kangana Ranaut. Even Kangana slammed him later and kept going on for few days!
6. Kangana Ranaut V/S ShivSena
Kangana and controversies go hands in hands!… Her this controversy with ShivSena began when she compared Mumbai with “POK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir), and following this remark, politician Sanjay bashed her calling “Haramkhor”
Although he tried to settle the matter by saying ” Haramkhor” means ” naughty” and he did not mean to insult Kangana, it was just a normal statement of calling her naughty or mischievous. Later her Mumbai office was damaged by Municipality and it was alleged that her office came under illegal construction to justify this act by Shiv Sena.
7. Summon of NCB to various top celebrities of B-TOWN
Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan , Shraddha Kapoor were few of top notch celebrities of B-town which were summoned by NCB in drugs case. This whole case came under the lights when Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case came under CBI which later included NCB in it.
They were called for inquiry in NCB Mumbai office. Bharti Singh and Harsh Limbachiyaa were also arrested in drugs connection case. Later they were granted bail.
8. Allegations of TRP scam of Arnab Goswami, Editor and chief of Republic TV!
Arnab Goswami is one of the most loved and hated anchor at the same time. He was the one to take a lead in SSR’s case which increased viewership of Republic TV multifold and soon Republic became top news channel of India leaving behind AajTak and ABP News like channel.
But in a report it was allegedly told that Republic TV was involved in a TRP scam which paid money to earn viewership. This kind of act was highly criticized by Republic’s viewers and Arnab Goswami was trolled a lot for it.
